About Kellie

Kellie M. Hultgren is a book editor and literary project manager based in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. She has worked at every stage from drafting to bookstore shelf, with clients ranging from fledgling indies to Big Five heavyweights.

Hi! I’m Kellie M. Hultgren, an editor and project manager with more than twenty years of experience in book publishing.

After an internship at Graywolf Press, I worked at several companies in the Minneapolis–St. Paul publishing community before launching KMH Editing full-time in 2009. I have worked at every stage in a book’s production, from first draft to edits to layout to printing to bookstore shelf, though today I make cuts with a keyboard rather than a hydraulic paper cutter. I love the variety of people and projects I encounter as a freelancer focusing on the writing and revising stages of the publication process.

I graduated from St. Olaf College and later received my master’s in literary publishing from Hamline University. I am an active member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, ACES, and the Professional Editors Network, and I have been a presenter and panelist at many professional-development events for wordsmiths. I have also served as a director, board president, and special events coordinator for the Minnesota Book Publishers Roundtable.

Away from the keyboard, I am an avid fiber artist, singer, history geek, and lifelong sci-fi/fantasy reader.
